The Syler galvanized steel pipe is normally coated with zinc and additional PE Powder coating to prevent rust. However, the coating at the thread area is removed during the tapping, making this area prone to rust. This problem can be solved by using the anti-rust Herme Seal to completely protect the thread and joints.

Herme Seal 55

Herme Seal 55 is an anti-corrosion and waterproof sealant. The HERME SEAL is suitable for steel pipes and lined pipes. It helps prevent corrosion at the inner thread. The Herme Seal is also suitable for hot water and potable water piping. The Herme Seal contains no hazardous chemicals and is highly efficient for rust prevention in line with JWWA K142 standard.

  

The table below shows average amount of sealant to be applied.
         If the sealant is inadequately applied, it will not cover the whole surface and may result in reduced effectiveness of rust and leakage prevention. On the other hand, excessive sealant will build up in the pipe and become contaminant in the water.


Applying Herme Seal 55
         Clean the pipe thread by removing all oil and use dry cloth to dry the surface before applying the Herme Seal 55. This method will help the sealant to adhere with the thread and the pipe surface.

Apply the Herme Seal to cover the whole thread area, especially the pipe section, which will be in direct contact with water. For pipes that is bigger than 2 inches, if you are not sure that the thread is of standard, use pipe tape to wrap the thread after the sealant is applied. Then, apply another layer of sealant on top of the pipe tape and fit the pipe with the joint.

For higher rust and leakage prevention efficiency, please leave the pipe undisturbed for at least 8 -12 hours before water testing is being conducted because the Herme Seal requires settling time.
